Steve Clarke Biography

His name is Stephen Clarke, a former football player and current manager of West Bromwich Albion. Clarke during his playing career played with three team St. Mirren, Clyde, and Chelsea, he played with Scotland national team. Clarke won three trophies with Chelsea. When he turned into coaching career, he worked with Newcastle, then Chelsea, West Ham united, and Liverpool. Finally he signed with West Bromwich Albion in June 2012 to be his head manager.

Playing career of Steve Clarke:
Steve Clarke begun his playing career as professional with St. Mirren , he moved then to Chelsea in February 1987, where he participated in 421 appearances , staying until 1998.Clarke won with Chelsea the FA Cup Final in 1997, UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup Final in 1988, and Football League Cup Final in 1998.

Managerial career of Steve Clarke:


Newcastle United:
With Newcastle, Clarke started his new career as manager assistant to Ruud Gullit in 1988. Gullit was his boos in Chelsea; he took the coaching of the team after the resignation of Gullit as caretaker for one game when Newcastle lost in front of Manchester United by 5-1.

Chelsea:
He was appointed as manager assistant to Mourinho in 2004, but in 2007 Mourinho departed the team and Clarke was forced to leave the team.

West Ham United:
Clarke moved to West Ham United and signed to be manager assistant to Gianfranco Zola, but he on September 15, 2008 was appointed the first coach of West Ham United.
He led them to finish the Premier League in the 9th place for the season 2008-2009, in the next season they were playing to avoid relegation, so in June 2010 Zola and Clarke left the club by mutual consent.

Liverpool:
Steve Clarke was appointed first coach by Kenny Dalglish, so he in June 2012 left the club after sacking Kenny Dalglish and signing with Brendan Rodgers because the club finished the league in the 8th place.

West Bromwich Albion:
Steve Clarke signed with West Bromwich Albion in June 8, 2012 a contract for 2 years.
In his first year with Albion, Steve Clarke started the first day in the premier League with a home win over Liverpool 3-0. Clarke could to lead the team to win in November four consecutive games in a row for the first time since 1980. So he could to achieve 14 wins in the Premier League and the team finished the league in the 8th place with 49 points.
