Galatasaray belonging to the
Turkish first division soccer announced on Monday that former Manchester City
manager Roberto Mancini appointed to lead the team for three years, replacing Fatih
Terim, who was sacked last week.
The Italian coach took office two
days before his new club matches at home to Juventus in the Champions League.
Mancini said in remarks carried
by the European Union to site online soccer "I'm very happy of appointing
me in a big club like Galatasaray."
Mancini added "I decided to
join a huge entity. Galatasaray match with Juventus will be a happy coincidence
for me."
The Turkish club revealed that
Italian Mancini will receive 3.5 million euros (4.74 million dollars) until the
end of the current season and 4.5 million euros for each of the remaining two
seasons of the contract without the expense of bonuses.
Mancini aged 48 years was sacked
of training City last May after serving in training three and a half years during
which led to the English Premier League title in the 2011-2012 seasons and the
FA Cup title in 2011.
