Mauricio Pochettino Biography



His full name is Mauricio Roberto Pochettino Trossero; he is a former football player and current manager of Southampton. He was playing as a central defender. He has 17 years as a professional player where he played 10 years in La Liga with Espanyol, scoring 13 goals in 275 games. Pochettino played also in France with PSG and Bordeaux. Newell’s Old Boys was the beginning of Pochettino career in playing. Pochettino also played in the Argentine national team between 1999-2002 where he participated with his country at 1999 Copa America and 2002 World Cup.

Club:
Mauricio Pochettino began his playing career with Newell’s Old Boys to move then to the Catalan team Espanyol in 1994-1995 where he stayed there for 7 years, where they got the title of the Copa Del Ray in 2000.

Pochettino Moved in January 2001 to PSG where he stayed there until 2003-2004 to move in the same country to Girondis de Bordeaux, there he stayed for two seasons and half.
International country team:
Pochettino made 20 appearances with Argentine national team, where he participated in 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Managerial career of Mauricio Pochettino:

Espanyol:
Pochettino signed with Espanyol in January 2009, so he led the team to finish in La Liga in 10th place. And Pochettino was finished his contract with Espanyol in June 30, 2012 by mutual consent.

Southampton:
Pochettino signed with Southampton in January 18, 2013. He led his new team to win over many team like Man City 3-1, Liverpool 3-1, and Chelsea 2-1.

His International goals:
Pochettino scored goal in November in front of Spain in friendly match which the game finished with 2-0. The he scored in 2002 World Cup qualification in front of Paraguay and the game ended 2-2.
