Vladimir Petkovic Biography



He is a former football player and current head coach of Lazio football club in the Serie A. Vladimir Petkovic Swiss and Bosnian and was born in August 15, 1963.
He is known as Dottore in Italian which means the Doctor, and he speaks French, English, Italian, Spanish, Russian, and Spanish in addition he is multi-lingual (Serbo-Croatian).
In addition he has three passports Bosnian, Croatian, and Swiss.
Petkovic was born in Sarajevo and his parents were educational workers o he used to change his schools very much according to the movements of his parents.

Playing career of Vladimir Petkovic:

Petkovic played as midfielder with good technique, starting his playing career with llidza to move then to the youth team of FK Sarajevo when he was 15 years old. He achieved with his team the 1984-1985 Yugoslav First League.
Then Petkovic emigrated from Yugoslavia to Switzerland, where he joined FC Chur97, and after a good performance over one season he joined FC Sion which finished the season in the 3th place.
Petkovic joined Martigny-Sports before returned to his first Swiss club Chur. 

Managerial career of Vladimir Petkovic:

After his retiring, Petkovic became player- manager at AC Bellinzona in 1997. In 2004 He coached Lugano for little time to return back to Bellinzona leading them to the 2008 Swiss Cup final, but they lost in front of Basel and got the promotion to the Swiss Super league.
Then in 2008-2009 Petkovic signed with Young Boys club who led them to finish the league in the 2th place, and he stayed there for two seasons to be sacked then after the draw of the team with Luzern 1-1 in 2011.
In 2011, Petkovic moved to the Turkish league to sign with Samsunspor team but he resigned in 2012 after the relegation of the team to the second division.
After that he signed with Sion until 2011-2012 seasons to sign then in June 2, 2012 with Lazio in the Serie A, where they won under his leader the Coppa Italia in 2013.
