French coach Metsu died after a struggle with cancer


The French Media reported Tuesday that Bruno Metsu former coach of United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Senegal, the 59-year-old died after a struggle with cancer.
The Metsu led Senegal to reach the quarter-finals of the 2002 World Cup; Metsu has also achieved great successes in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
Newspapers no foie gras du Nord and local sports daily L'Equipe and France Football magazine said that Metsu, who quit training with Al Wasl Club last year for treatment of stomach cancer, he died last night at his home in northern France.
And the travelling coach also led Guinea and several clubs in the Gulf region.
But his fame applied prospects in 2002 when Senegal defeated rival the defending champions France and then in the opening match of the World Cup before the African team to reach the quarter-finals. Also in that year, Senegal stepped up to the final of the African Nations Cup.

Under the leadership of Metsu, Al Ain won the Asian Champions League in the first version of its new system continental championship in 2003. After two years with Qatar's Al Gharafa and Al Etihad, Metsu again returned to the UAE in 2006 to train the national team this time.
Metsu succeeded once again led the UAE to win the Gulf Cup title in January 2007 for the first time in its history.
