Roberto Martinez Montoliu was
born in Balaguer, July 13, 1973. He is a former Spanish footballer and current
head coach of Everton Since June 2013.
Previously, he was coaching four seasons Wigan Athletic.

Martinez:
Roberto Martinez played as a
defensive midfielder and started his playing career with Real Zaragoza, and
then he moved to play with many teams like CF Balaguer, Wigan Athletic,
Motherwell, Walsall, Swansea City and Chester City. At Wigan he played 187
league games in six seasons, where he scored 17 goals.
Managerial career of Roberto
Martinez:
Roberto Martinez was appointed on
23 February 2007 as the new coach at Swansea City. In June 2009 showed both
Celtic and Wigan Athletic interest in Martinez. On 15 June 2009 he was
appointed as the new manager of Wigan Athletic. His departure from Swansea
brought much controversy triggered, especially since Martinez had indicated
that he would continue. Some supporters and fans of Swansea City called him a Judas.
Martinez ' first game as manager of Wigan, an away game at Aston Villa won 0-2.
Martinez saved Wigan three consecutive seasons of relegation. On May 17, 2012
he was announced that Liverpool wanted Martinez to take over Wigan. He turned
down the offer and chose Liverpool Brendan Rodgers as new manager. After he
gave victory in a row Wigan for relegation three seasons, he succeeded in the
season 2012-13 not to keep Wigan in the Premier League. So Wigan finished in
eighteenth place, which means degradation. The board gave Martinez freedom to
choose: stay with Wigan or leave for a bigger club.
On June 5, 2013 Martinez was
officially appointed as manager of Everton. He succeeds to Manchester United
left David Moyes, who was active in nine seasons Liverpool. He signed a
four-year contract with The Toffees.
