The Australian Federation of
Football on Wednesday declared that the coach Ange Postecoglou will leave
Melbourne Victory team to lead the national team.
The Australian Federation announced
on its Web site that Postecoglou signed a five-year contract.
Postecoglou will replace German
coach Holger Osieck, who was sacked earlier this month after two consecutive
defeats lead to 6 - zero against Brazil and France, although he led the Australian
team to qualify for the World Cup finals in Brazil next year.
Postecoglou will begin work
officially on 28 October this will be his first game with the team against
Costa Rica in Sydney on November 19.
The Postecoglou was among a list
of other candidates for the position are Australia coach Graham Arnold and
former coach Tony Popovic Stern team Sydney Wanderers after the dismissal of
Holger Osieck earlier this month.
It seemed clear yesterday Tuesday
that Postecoglou is the closest choice when Union officials entered into
negotiations with the Australian for the Liberation of Victorian coach, aged
48, who has worked in the youth team of his contract.
Chairman club Anthony Di Pietro
said in a statement, "Ange appointing as the Australian coach is a great
achievement for our club and culture and standards."
He added "I give thanks to
Ange and I would definitely always been part of Melbourne Victor's
family."
The Union is expected to provide
Australian confederation of Football Postecoglou in later in the day Wednesday.
Ange Postecoglou was born in Athens,
Greece in August 27, 1965. He was a former football player where he played as defender,
and head coach to Melbourne Victory team before he signed with Australian
Confederation of football to be the head coach of Australia football team.
