Brendan Rodgers is a Northern Irish
football coach and former defender player; he is now the current coach of
Liverpool. He was born in January 26, 1973.
Brendan start his career as
player when he played as defender in the rows of Ballymena United, after that
he moved to sign with Reading when his age was 18 , but he retired at the age
of 20 because of injury forced him to do. He stayed at Reading although of his retiring
to be a coach until Jose Mourinho invited him to join him in Chelsea as manager
for the youth team in 2004.
Rodgers was confirmed to be the
manger in 2006. So in 2008 he signed with Watford to be his head manager, he
stayed there until an offer come from his former team Reading to sign with it
in 2009.
Rodgers left the club because of
the bad results of the team during six months , to sign with Swansea City in
2010, though he led them to win the promotion to the Primer League, it was the
first Welsh team ever did that, and the led them to finish the position 11th
in their debut Primer League season.
Liverpool presented an offer to
Rodgers in order to become his manager in 2012 and he accepted that offer.
His Early Life:
Brendan Rodgers parents are
Malachy and Christina, and he has four brothers younger than him, Rodgers
studied in Ballymena at St Patrick’s College. He played the Gaelic football and
hurling, and at the age of 13, he was taken to football. Rodgers was the supporter
of Celtic, Sheffield, and Wednesday.
During his teenager, Rodgers studied
at Northern Ireland in his schoolboy level, where he played notably against
Brazil in 1988. He started his career as defender in Ballymena United, to sign
after that with Reading at the age of 17 but he still playing to the age of 20
when he exposed to a genetic Knee condition preventing him from continuing his
career. So after this incident, reading offered him to be his youth coach.
He seeks to travel around Spain
in order to learn different coaching methods, to be invited by the big coach
Jose Mourinho and enter the Chelsea Youth Academy as head coach in 2004. After that
in 2006 Rodgers was promoted to be the team manager.
Managerial career:
Watford:
Rodgers left the youth Academy in
Chelsea to start his managerial career with Watford. He led them to win just
two games of his first ten games during the league. So they finish the league
by the position 13th by improving their playing little.
Reading:
Steve Coppell was the former
coach of Reading , he left the team , so the administration called Rodgers to
train reading but he firstly refused because he claimed that he concentrated on
Watford , but they offered him a salary £ 500.000 , he agreed and then his
salary became £ 1 million. But the fans of Watford nevertheless thanked
him for his efforts last season despite him lost the trust in the eyes of
millions of his fans in Watford.
His first win with Reading was against
Burton Albion with 5-1 as result in the League Two side during the first round
of the League Cup. But he faced a consequences
of loses after his first win and bad results, the thing that led him to leave
Reading by mutual consent in December after
six months of his arrival.
Swansea City:
He signed with Swansea City on
July 16, 2010. He led them to promote into the Primer League to make it the
first Welsh team ever to do that. And the team started to get wins over many
teams like Aston Villa, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. Those
good results led the administration of Swansea City to sign with him for new three
years until 2015.
Liverpool:
Brendan Rodgers signed with Liverpool
a contract for three years on June 1, 2012. He accepted this offer after the
departure of Kenny Dalglish before two weeks.
He led Liverpool to reach to the
fourth round of the FA Cup, and it finished in the seventh position in the
primer league, which was one position higher than previous season.
Personal Life of Brendan Rodger
His wife name is Susan and they
have a son named Anton, who is a player in Oldham Athletic and they also have a
daughter named Mischa.
He speaks Italian and Spanish, he
is well known as Buck Rodgers.
