Dominic Kinnear

He is an American and Scottish-born former football player and current head coach of Houston Dynamo in MLS. Kinnear was born in July 26, 1967. He started his playing career with Scottish team St. Johnstone then he went too played with several teams in the United States and Mexico, like San Jose Hawks, Tampa Bay Mutiny, San Jose Clash, and Necaxa.  Kinnear has got 54 caps with the national team of United States.

Playing Career:

Youth:

Kinnear moved with his family to United States when he was three years old, and at five years old started to play youth soccer, then attended John F. Kennedy High School, and after graduation from high school, Dominic attended Hartwick College for one year. 

Scotland:

Kinnear moved to Scotland after one year with Hartwick trying his luck with Scottish Football League club St. Johnstone.

United States, first period:

Kinnear moved to San Francisco Bay Blackhawks of WSL in 1989 to become then one of the dominant teams in the era. And in 1990 WSL merged with ASL to form APSL (American Professional Soccer League). So Kinnear has got all Star honors and the Blackhawks got the title of the ASL and reached to the semi-final of the CONCAF Champions cup in 1992. In 1994 Kinnear moved to the Fort Lauderdale Strikers after a summer trial with the English team Bolton Wanderers came to nothing.

Mexico:

Kinnear played a sole season in the Mexican first division with Necaxa, where he became the first U.S. player score in the Mexican first division, and his team took the title of the Mexican league.

The return to United States:

Kinnear signed with Seattle Sounders of the A League in August 10, 1995 to win another title of League championship, then he moved to Colorado Rapids in January 24, 1996 MLS and stayed there until December 15, 1996, to move to the San Jose Clash. And finally he signed to Tampa Bay Mutiny to score there 6 goals and made 24 assists in MLS.

International career:

Dominic Kinnear capped 54 for US national team, including his country games for the 1994 FIFA World Cup, although that Kinnear was not selected for the final squad.

Dominic Kinnear coaching career:

In 2001 Kinnear became the assistant of the head coach of the San Jose Earthquakes, Frank Yallop. They together helped the team to get the MLS Cup in 2001, and then in 2003. And Yallop then in 2004 left the team to the Canadian national team to become Kinnear the head coach of Earthquakes and to assign John Doyle to be his assistant. He led them to the MLS Supporters Shield in 2005, and then he moved with the rest of the Earthquakes when the team renamed the Houston Dynamo. So he led the new team to their first MLS Cup championship on November 12, 2006. And in 2007 Houston won their second title of MLS Cup in a row, by beating the New England Revelation.
