Mike Petke is a former American football player and current head coach of New York Red Bulls in MLS . Petke was born in January 30, 1976.


His Playing career:

His early life in college :

Petke was selected as All-American when he attended St. john the Baptist Diocesan High School in West Islip New York. Then he moved to play a soccer in college in Southern Connecticut State university. In 1995 he won with SCSU the title of the NCAA Division II to be named Conference Rookie of the year.
Petke did not stop at this point , so he was named New England Collegiate Conference Defensive Player of the year and also was selected of All-American.

His professional playing career:

Petke played his first five years of his professional career with MetroStars , making his first MLS debut on April 17, 1998 in a win 1-0 over Chicago Fire. He became a fan favorite and played 169 of 196 game in all competitions .
Petke moved then to Colorado rapids in 2005 helping them to reach  the Western Conference Finals in 2005. Then he signed with New york Red bulls on November 26, 2008 where he appeared in 19 regular season games. Red bulls won over Santos FC 3-1 and Petke scored the second goal for his team . and in 2010 he announced that he will retire at the end of the season . 


His international career:

Petke won two caps with the US national team . he also was a member of the U.S. squad competing in the 1995 World University Games in Japan.
After retirement career:
Petke became as Manager of Business operations with New York Red Bulls . on January 24, 2013 he became the assistant coach to be then a head coach .
His managerial career:
Petke lead the Red Bulls to their first major trophy , after a big win in the final match against Chicago Fire 5-2.
