Pablo Mastroeni Biography




He is a former football player and current head coach of the Colorado Rapids , was born in August 29, 1976. 

His playing career

Early life:


Pablo Mastroeni moved with his family to the United States from Argentina when he was four years old, where they settled in Phoenix , Arizona.
There , he played youth soccer for the Santos football Club. And when he attended North Carolina State University , played on the men’s soccer team from 1994 to 1997. And then Pablo Mastroeni spent the collegiate off season with the Tucson Amigos of the USISL from 1995 to 1997.

His professional career:

In February 1998, was the first start for Mastroeni professional career where he was selected in the second round ( thirteen overall) of the 1998 MLS College Draft. Then he spent four years with the Fusion , and during his second season with the team he became a regular starter where he played either as central defensive or defensive midfielder , to be named in 2001 the MLS Best XI . the first cap he earned was ion June 7 2001 against Ecuador.
Mastroeni was the first overall choice for the Fusion in 2002 , he went to the Colorado Rapids captaining to their first title in 2010. And in October 28, 2010 he scored his first playoff goal against the Columbus Crew . 

His international career:

Before weeks of the 2002 World Cup , Chris Armas injured and Mastroeni found himself a starter in the opening game when they beat Portugal 3-2.
Then on January 10, 2005 he suffered from injury while training with the national team , where he tore the quadriceps.
Then in 2006 he was named for the second time to the US World cup Squad in his career , and during their match against Italy he was given the red card for an aggressive tackle in the first half. So he missed a three –game suspension because he fined CHF 7.500 and to miss also the first two games of the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
He was the captain of the team against a friendly game against Mexico.
And finally he called for the first match for World Cup Qualifying of 2010 starting the first three of five final round of the United States.

Coaching career:

He was appointed the head coach of the Colorado Rapids on March 8, 2014, leading them on an interim since Oscar Pareja left for FC Dallas .
