Ian Holloway Biography



His full name is Ian Scott Holloway, he is an English former football player and current manager of Crystal Palace, and he was born in March 12, 1963. Holloway played as midfielder and started his playing career with Bristol Rovers in 1981, and then he moved to Wimbledon, Brentford, Torquay United, and then he came again to Bristol, Queen’s Park Rangers, and back to Bristol Rovers where he became player-manager of the team in 1999. So he managed a lot of team Queen’s Park Rangers, Plymouth Argyle, Leicester City, and Blackpool, to start then with Crystal Palace.
His nickname is Ollie; he has an Autobiography about himself entitled Ollie. He is well famous between his fans for his Bristol accent.

Playing career of Ian Holloway:


Holloway started his playing career with Bristol Rovers as an apprentice, and then he became professional to make his league debut the same year of 1981. He played midfield in the right side; he played with Bristol for four seasons to move then to Wimbledon in July 1985.
He stayed at Wimbledon for one year to be sold to Brentford where he played for a year, He joined in 1987 Torquay United on loan, where he played 5 times. Holloway returned back to Bristol after two years in London in August 1987.
He flourished for four seasons where he played at Twerton Park. then he was appointed by Francis to play at QPR in 1991 in the First Division, where he played 5 season at QPR, in more than 150 games , then he returned to Bristol as third time in August 1996, where Holloway played there as manager and player.

Managerial career of Ian Holloway:


Bristol Rovers:
Holloway was appointed as manager of Bristol, where he led them in the first season to the 17th place in the Division 2. The next season 1998-1999 the team finished the season in the 13th place.  Then he retired from playing to concentrate only on coaching the team, where he led them to the 7th place.

Queens Park Rangers:
Holloway signed with QPR in February 2001; his task was saving the team from relegation and keeping it in the Division 1. Holloway failed and the team relegated to the third level. It was the worst end for the team in 34 years. Holloway did not surrender and rebuild his team, so in 2004 the team was promoted to Division 2, finishing in the second place behind Plymouth Argyle.
He was sacked by the team in February 6, 2006.

Plymouth Argyle:
Holloway signed with Plymouth Argyle in June 28, 2006. But in November 21, 2007 he was sacked by the board.

Leicester City:
He moved to Leicester City making his first win in the league and beating Bristol City 2-0.
But he relegated form the Championship in 2008 according to a lot of problem between him and the chairman of the club. So the club and Holloway parted company by mutual consent in May 23, 2008.

Blackpool:
Holloway appointed after one year from rest with Blackpool in August 8, 2009. He succeeded in guiding the team to the primer league. He was only second manager who led Blackpool to promote to the primer league.
Holloway led the team after that to the victory in the South West Challenger Cup during the annual preseason tournament. They lost their status in the primer league for the season 2010-2011. 

Crystal Palace:
Holloway signed with Crystal Palace in November 3, 2012, and he remained the manager of the team until this moment, he led them to promote to the primer league for the season 2013-2014, by beating Watford 1-0. 

Personal Life of Ian Holloway:


Ian Holloway married from Bristolian Kim who suffered from lymphatic cancer, Holloway knew her when he was 14 years old, so he loves her so much, and he served for taking care of her. They have four children, three of them deaf, Holloway tried hard to teach them and he communicates with them by Sign Language.
