Gus Poyet Biography




Gustavo Augusto Poyet Domínguez and more known as Gustavo Poyet was born in  November 15 , 1967, Montevideo – he is an Uruguayan former football player , where he played as midfielder and current football coach  of English club Sunderland in the premier League.

Gus Poyet started to play with Spanish team Zaragoza, and then then he moved to play in the clubs of English Premier-League club Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Gus Poyet played with Uruguay national team and won with them the Cup of America in 1995, he played with the national team 26 appearances scoring 3 goals.

After his retiring from playing football, he became manager assistant to many English teams.

Managerial career of Gus Poyet:

Brighton & Hove Albion:

On November 10, 2009 Gus Poyet signed with Brighton & Hove Albion to be its head coach for one and half year. So Gus Poyet worked to steer the team and he succeeded in doing that. In the next season 2010-2011 he led the team to the top of the table of the League one.

Gus Poyet was named Championship manager of the month for August 2011 according to his good result and successful leading of his team.

But he resigned from the team after their loss in front of Crystal palace on May 16, 2013.

Sunderland:

After that Gus Poyet moved to Sunderland and signed with it, after the bad start of the team in the premier league.

His personal life:

His father was nationality so Gus Poyet played with the Academy of Charlton Athletic and then for the English national team under 16 years old, in addition he was eligible to play with Spain.
